A real winter miracle will take place by the Naryshkin bastion of Peter and Paul Fortress –a gallery of ice sculptures festival – “Ice Fantasy”!
You can easily recognize characters from famous fairytales and movies, heroes from ancient myths and Christmas angels in the manmade ice figures – the author’s fantasy is boundless.
The winners of prizes at international exhibitions and festivals in Belgium, France, Germany, Canada, Taiwan and China make the team of professional sculptors who will be working on the embodiment of their creative concepts. Transparent sculptures are sparkling under the rays of sun, creating fabulous atmosphere of winter holidays. The magical impression intensifies when it is getting dark early and a special lighting of the exposition starts functioning.
This traditional holiday of ice, light and happiness offers a real family celebration to both adults and children!

Maslenitsa is one of the most joyful holidays in Russia. Traditional open-air merrymaking with delicious pancakes, national games and joyous fairs will take place at the end of February. “Sound, Maslenitsa!” on the Elagin Island will welcome its guests with the shows by the folklore ensembles, dancing and round-dances. No one gets cold taking part in the parade of Maslenitsa trains, limericks contests, Russian hand-to-hand fights, while jokes from Petrushka along with Cossack horse shows will hardly leave anyone unimpressed. Do not limit yourself in what you eat during Maslenitsa, as the Lent is coming soon. Hot pancakes, fresh fish broth, mead, nosy samovar tea will help you to see winter off.

Maslenitsa is traditionally celebrated joyfully and on a grand scale.
2017 will not be an exception. The famous palace complexes in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg – Pavlovsk, Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin) and Peterhof invite children and their parents for the open-air merrymaking. Every Maslenitsa has a fair rich in pancakes, pies, honey, tea and folk art, as well as traditional performances, circle dancing, gypsy dances, strongman battles, funny championships of felt boots throwing and tug-of-war. Museums prepare special excursions. For example
only during Maslenitsa the visitors of Peterhof can learn about Russian nobility winter holidays traditions.
Visiting palace complexes lets you admire the winter luxury of parks and palaces and celebrating Maslenitsa will definitely cheer you up.

Maslenitsa is one of the favorite holidays of the residents of Saint Petersburg. This year the festivities will traditionally take place at the Peter and Paul Fortress. The programme of the Maslenitsa festival is largely varied: theatrical open-air merrymaking, a concert, craftsmen fair, workshops for children, sporting events, a fire show, even the performing animals show! All the “Great Maslenitsa” festival guests will be able to slide down an ice chute, climb up the Maslenitsa pole, take a ride on a horse, participate in the folk crafts workshops and
keep the self-made souvenirs. If your soul craves, you can sing and dance together with the Cossack and Russian song companies! At the festival you can taste the traditional pancakes and other national dishes, and the local canteens will provide you with hot beverages: tea, mulled wine, and sbiten. The climax of the festivities by the Peter and Paul Fortress walls will be the traditional burning of straw Maslenitsa effigy, a farewell to winter.

The festival also offers an open social-educational programme: concerts at the theatre lobby,
